The demand for egg products has been very strong so far in 2014, thanks to expanded breakfast menus at quick service restaurants, said Dolph Baker, CEO of Cal-Maine Foods.  Baker addressed the demand for egg products March 13 during the UBS Global Consumer Conference.

Baker said he and others at Cal-Maine Foods have noticed the trend of increased demand for egg products, thanks to new breakfast items at quick service restaurants. He specifically mentioned McDonald's, which has introduced a new line of egg white breakfast sandwiches.

"The demand has been up. There's no question about it," Baker said.

Baker estimates that at the present time about 32 percent of all eggs produced go into egg products.

Baker was joined at the UBS Global Consumer Conference by Tim Dawson, chief financial officer of Cal-Maine Foods. Cal-Maine Foods is the largest egg producer in the United States.
