APHIS reports four new cases of avian influenza in Minnesota and Iowa The new counties affected by avian influenza are:
The fourth new case of avian influenza occurred in Renville County, Minnesota. This is the third avian influenza detection in the county. Here, the virus was confirmed in a flock of 95,300 turkeys. The flocks at each of the four farms will be depopulated and the properties will be disinfected to help prevent the spread of avian influenza. To date, APHIS has reported 191 avian influenza detections which have impacted more than 43 million birds. APHIS and other state agriculture and wildlife agencies have reported confirmed avian influenza cases in 20 U.S. states.
