WorldPoultry: Far Eastern companies adopt cage-free eggs18-07-2018
One of Asia’s leading healthy food chains SaladStop! has announced it is joining the global cage-free movement. The Singapore-based company, whose raison d’etre is to be part of the healthy eating movement, said it would only use cage-free eggs from 2025. It applies to all shell eggs, including those going into processing and ingredients. The pledge applies to all SaladStop! locations globally, including Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Vietnam, Korea, Japan and Spain. Director Katherine Braha, said the company had made the move in the light of its animal welfare and environment philosophy and was working closely with Humane Society International (HIS). “We hope to be one of the catalysts in changing the food system for the better and support a new breed of farms committed to positive change. Animal welfare is an important part of this change, which is why we are excited to work with HIS to source higher welfare cage-free eggs.
HSI commends the move to cage-free “We look forward to working with more companies in the region on similar policies,” she added. |
